Climate Justice Education: Weaving Together our Stories of Nature and Place

CLIMATE JUSTICE EDUCATION:

WEAVING TOGETHER OUR STORIES OF NATURE AND PLACE

24 May 2022, 90 minutes

8am PT, 16:00 BST; 17:00 CAT/CEST; 20:30 IST; 1:00 AEDT (25 May)

This webinar builds on the previous March 2022 session where participants worked in small groups to share ideas and experiences of effective climate justice education (CJE). This webinar continues to explore CJE, this time, using the power of creative expression and arts which can create spaces of imagination, hope, and even healing.

Working in small groups, we will use a story work and métissage approach, a form of creative engagement that combines and weaves together individual stories into a collective narrative.

PIMA co-hosts the Climate Justice and Adult Learning and Education (ALE) Webinar Series with
Canadian Association for Studies in Adult Education (CASAE), Adult Learning Australia (ALA), MOJA Adult Education Africa and Standing Conference on University Teaching and Research in Education of Adults (SCUTREA).

The webinar is free and will be recorded. Facilitators are Shauna Butterwick, Darlene Clover and Joy Polanco O’Neil.

We look forward to you joining us!

Why CONFINTEA VII matters

| Global

In June 2022, the seventh global United Nations meeting on adult learning and education (ALE) is planned for Morocco. This is our opportunity to influence the framework for action for the next 12 years so that it does address critical issues for the majority world. The climate catastrophe, devastating war, and conflict most recently in Ukraine, health pandemics, food insecurity, and economic uncertainties, impact the majority of people and the environment, all of which are our concern. PIMA is working with civil society ALE networks to impact the CONFINTEA processes to ensure that values of peace, social solidarity, human development, and socio-ecological justice are integral to the anticipated Marrakesh Framework. The webinar is for PIMA members and associates who wish to understand the process of global policy making in ALE and to identify the intervention points. This is in preparation for an on-line consultation coordinated by UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) in the coming weeks. We look forward to you joining us! TVET Teachers and Lifelong Learning

Teachers are at the heart of lifelong learning systems. They not only enable individuals to reach their full potential, but also adapt to the rapid transformations of society, economies and labour markets. For Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) teachers, this role is especially critical: by becoming lifelong learners and fostering lifelong learning capabilities, they prepare young people and adults alike to thrive in dynamic workplaces and to contribute to inclusive and sustainable societies.

To explore how policies and practices can support TVET teachers as both learners and facilitators of lifelong learning, join UIL and Shanghai Normal University for a webinar under the joint research project 'Teachers as Lifelong Learners'.
