Au dernier semestre de 2024, deux études parallèles ont été menées en Afrique du Nord et en Afrique australe sur l’utilisation des réseaux sociaux dans et pour l’Éducation et l’Apprentissage des Adultes (ALE) (voir ICI et ICI). Ces études ont révélé plusieurs conclusions intéressantes. Tout d’abord, il s’agit d’un domaine relativement nouveau et encore peu exploré ; ensuite, la plateforme de médias sociaux choisie dépend largement du groupe cible ; enfin, de nombreuses personnes ont des réticences quant à l’utilisation des réseaux sociaux comme outil éducatif, les percevant principalement comme un moyen de divertissement. Des préoccupations liées à la confidentialité ont également été soulevées, mais elles pourraient être atténuées en fournissant des directives adéquates sur la manière de naviguer en toute sécurité en ligne. Enfin, de nombreux praticiens de l’ALE manquent de confiance dans leur capacité à utiliser les réseaux sociaux à des fins éducatives.

Sur la base de ces conclusions et en tenant compte des domaines déjà couverts dans le MOJA Communications Handbook for Adult Educators, publié en 2024 (pour la version française, cliquez ICI), le Projet Continental Africain – MOJA commande un module sur l'utilisation des réseaux sociaux pour les praticiens de l'ALE.
