My experience in adult learning and education
Adult learning or andragogy, as it is also labelled, refers to the special requirements and qualities of adult learners, who frequently contribute a plethora of experience and knowledge to the learning environment. Adults, different from children, would rather be in charge of their education and define their own objectives and figure out how to reach them. They learn best when new information can be connected to their accumulated life experiences and when the learning is relevant to their personal or professional lives. Adult learning is often focused on solving real-world problems, making practical application a key component. While career advancement can be a motivator, intrinsic factors such as personal growth, satisfaction, and self-esteem often drive adults to learn.
