Formal education provides skills that are relevant to the labour market. However, many individuals, including school dropouts and adults who never had the opportunity to complete their formal education, miss this chance. Adult and Non-Formal Education (ANFE) offers a vital second chance for these individuals. By equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge, ANFE has the potential to significantly improve their employability and capacity for job creation. Unemployment and underemployment significantly contribute to poverty and socio-economic instability in East Africa. These challenges are often worsened by the fact that many people do not benefit from these formal systems due to various reasons, such as economic barriers, dropping out of school early, cultural norms and being isolated geographically. Adult and Non-Formal Education provides a pathway for these individuals to gain relevant skills and re-enter the job market, thereby promoting economic resilience and social inclusion.
