International Literacy Day (ILD) 2025
On 8 September, MOJA Adult Education Africa joins the global community in celebrating International Literacy Day (ILD) under theme: “Promoting literacy in the digital era.”
Digitalisation is reshaping the way we learn, work, and connect. While digital tools create new opportunities for lifelong learning, they can also deepen exclusion for the 739 million young people and adults worldwide who still lack basic literacy skills. We believe literacy is more than reading and writing, it is everything that adults want and need to learn. It is the key to navigating digital spaces with confidence, accessing opportunities, and engaging as informed citizens.
By promoting digital and traditional literacy together, and by sharing knowledge and strengthening networks, we can build resilient communities and advance inclusive, sustainable development across the continent. In this spirit, we invite you to share on our socials (facebook) how your region is celebrating ILD this year.
